While many regions will remain in lockdown through the holidays, that doesn’t mean people can’t still spread some holiday cheer to those they care about.
While most won’t be celebrating the holidays with extended family and friends in person this year, many are planning to organize some sort of virtual celebration with those they care about.
In an effort to help Canadians celebrate safely, Uber is rolling out a new service entitled Uber Connect, which will allow users to send gifts and packages to friends and family members free of postage.
Further, in addition to sending gifts, users can also select receive a package, if they need to borrow an item—such as tools used to hang holiday decorations.
To utilize this feature, users simply have to select the “receive a package” option, and both those sending and receiving the package can track it while it is being delivered, and receive notifications when it arrives.

“Being separated from many loved ones this December, we’re all looking for ways to make this holiday season a bit brighter,” Matthew Price, General Manager for Uber Canada, said in a news release.
“Whether it’s a Secret Santa gift, cookie exchange, or care package, Uber Connect can help you spread some socially distant cheer this year,” he continued.
