Two more Hamilton businesses charged for COVID-19 regulation violations

Since last week, two Hamilton business have been charged with offences related to alleged violations of COVID-19 regulations and bylaws.

According to data shared on the City of Hamilton’s website, Your Shwarma on Stone Church in Upper Stoney Creek has been charged under the Face Coverings By-law.

The City says that the business’s operator “failed to post mandatory Face Covering Sign” at the entrance of the establishment. The ticket was issued on Nov. 19.

Another business in Stoney Creek, Village Barbers, located on King Street E, is facing charges under the Reopening Ontario Act under the section that requires face coverings. The ticket was issued on Nov. 18.

Earlier this month, the City of Hamilton started sharing details of the businesses who have been charged for flouting regulations and bylaws designed to limit the spread of coronavirus.

The City notes, however, that “the fact that a business has been charged with an offence does not mean that that business is guilty of the offence. A ticket or penalty notice amounts to an allegation and the business is presumed innocent until the alleged offence is proven or admitted.”
