Residents of southwestern GTHA encouraged to postpone non-essential travel due to inclement weather

A travel advisory is in effect for much of the southwestern GHTA due to inclement weather.
According to Environment Canada: “A narrow band of lake effect snow is expected to develop off Lake Ontario Tuesday overnight and move inland early Wednesday morning” for Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Halton Hills, and Hamilton.
The band will be over the Burlington area early Wednesday morning and slowly shift northwards towards the southwestern section of the City of Toronto by mid-morning, after which it will begin drifting south, reaching downtown Hamilton in the evening.
Residents can expect five to 10 cm of snow by Wednesday night, with snowfall rates of several centimeters per hour likely.
Drivers in these areas are advised to consider postponing non-essential travel Tuesday night and Wednesday during the day.
Those who must take to the roads are encouraged to prepare for quickly changing driving conditions and to use caution, as icy roads are to be expected.
