Province reporting 4,094 new COVID-19 cases, 24 deaths

The province is reporting 4,094 new COVID-19 cases today (April 24) and 24 new deaths linked to the virus.

There are 1,191 new cases in Toronto, 1,014 in Peel, 406 in York Region, 226 in Niagara, 199 in Durham, 133 in Hamilton, and 109 in Halton.

As of yesterday, 4,332 more cases are considered resolved and nearly 52,200 more tests completed.

4,527,368 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario.

The province confirmed today that there are 36 cases in Ontario of the B.1.617 variant that was first detected in India. Further research is being done to confirm if the variant is more infectious or more resistant to vaccines.
