Province reporting 3,947 new COVID-19 cases, 24 deaths

The province is reporting 3,947 new cases of COVID-19 today (April 25) and 24 new deaths linked to the virus.

There are 1,136 new cases in Toronto, 901 in Peel, 406 in York Region, 209 in Ottawa, 207 in Durham, 153 in Halton, and 109 in Hamilton.

Since yesterday, 4,239 more cases are considered resolved and nearly 46,700 more tests completed.

4,626,903 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario.

The province recently confirmed that there are at least 36 confirmed cases in Ontario of the B.1.617 variant that was first detected in India. Further research is being done to confirm if the variant is more infectious or more resistant to vaccines.
