The province is reporting 3,732 new COVID-19 cases today (May 2) and 23 new deaths linked to the virus.

For the first time since the pandemic began, the province is reporting that at least 900 people are in ICU due to COVID.

Today there are 1,198 new cases in Toronto, 797 in Peel, 306 in York Region, 237 in Hamilton, 232 in Durham, and 129 in Halton.

Since yesterday, 3,947 more tests are considered resolved and over 45,300 more tests completed.

5,324,369 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

The province announced today that residents 18+ living in provincial hotspots, and all residents 50+, will be able to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment at the province’s website starting this week (May 3 and May 6, respectively).

“During the weeks of May 3 and May 10, Ontario will allocate 50% of upcoming vaccines shipments to hot spot communities — an increase of over one million doses — as a targeted, time-limited measure,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott.

“Allocations in other public health units remain the same.”

Today’s full case data is available on the province’s website.
