Province reporting 1,829 new COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths

The province is reporting 1,829 new COVID-19 cases today (March 20), indicating a continued rise in cases over the past few days.

There are 593 new cases in Toronto, 287 in Peel, 157 in York Region, 124 in Hamilton, 101 in Ottawa, and 40 in Halton.

11 more deaths linked to the virus have been reported.

Since yesterday, 1,261 more cases are considered resolved and nearly 52,100 additional tests completed.

As of 8:00 p.m. yesterday, 1,480,882 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario.

The province announced on Friday that patios can reopen to customers starting today in Peel and Toronto, while red zone regions such as Halton and Hamilton can increase their indoor restaurant capacity.

Starting Monday, March 22, Ontario residents 75 years and older will be able to book vaccination appointments online at Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling the Provincial Vaccine Information Line at 1-888-999-6488.
