Province reporting 1,489 new COVID-19 cases, 22 deaths

Today (Sunday, February 7) the province is reporting 1,489 new COVID-19 cases and 22 deaths linked to the virus.

517 of the new cases are in Toronto, 261 in Peel, 121 in York Region, 88 in Hamilton, and 61 in Halton.

Since yesterday, 1,937 more cases are considered resolved and nearly 51,700 additional tests completed.

As of 8:00 p.m. yesterday, 379,184 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ontario.

A senior government source says Ontario Premier Doug Ford will announce plans for a gradual reopening of the province’s economy on Monday, February 8.

The government will transition regions back to a colour-coded restrictions system over three weeks, the source said. Until then, a stay-at-home order remains in effect.

Today’s full case data is available at the province’s website.
