With additional restrictions implemented, including a full, province-wide lockdown, employment in Ontario decreased by 11,900 jobs in December.
Additionally, with the lockdown expected to be extended as the number of new daily cases continues to set records nearly every day, many small businesses that are closed may stay closed for some time.
As a result, in order to assist small businesses forced to close, the Province announced it is providing additional financial aid for entrepreneurs which will become available in late January.
The new Ontario Small Business Support Grant will provide businesses that have been forced to close or significantly restrict services during the second lockdown with between $10,000 and $20,000 in financial aid.
Business owners will be free to use this funding in whatever way they feel best benefits their business.

Further, the Province has committed to providing $600 million for property tax and energy bill rebates to these same struggling businesses.
