Police investigating Hamilton’s 3rd homicide of 2021 after BC man found dead

Hamilton Police are investigating the city’s third homicide of the year after a male was found dead in Stoney Creek.

Sunday (Feb. 28), just after 7:15 p.m., police responded to a shooting

On February 28, 2021, just after 7:15 p.m., the Hamilton Police Service (HPS) responded to a shooting that occurred in the area of 347 Arvin Ave—the location of Colonial Pillars manufacturing.


Police say a 26-year-old female was located suffering from serious injuries and transported to hospital. She remains in hospital in serious condition.

A 39-year-old male was subsequently located deceased at the location, according to police. He has been identified as Tyler Pratt of British Columbia.

Police believe the suspects fled the scene in a new model white Land Rover SUV.

“Investigators are continuing to establish the motive behind the incident and urge those with information to come forward to speak with police,” said HPS in an official statement. “Police are further requesting the assistance of the public for any information that may relate to the suspect(s) and the suspect vehicle involved.”

Investigators are requesting members of the community who were travelling on Arvin Ave or Barton St. East between Fruitland and Green Rd between 7 and 7:20 p.m. to contact the police with any information.
