PICK A SIDE Results: Majority of respondents believe vaccine passports should be implemented

Throughout the last few months, battle lines have been drawn, opinions have been voiced, and sides have been picked.
We’ve asked for your opinions, readers, on several controversial topics, such as should vaccine passports be implemented, is the province’s reopening plan moving too slowly, and should schools have reopened this year; these are the results.
After more than a year of COVID-19 related restrictions, we asked if people were continuing to organize virtual holiday and event celebrations, or if you were sick of them. According to the results, the majority, 73 per cent, said they were done with them, while only 27 per cent said they still wanted to see their friends and family members—even if it was through a screen.
With the return of restaurants on the horizon, we asked what people were most looking forward to when eating out. Nine per cent said they were excited to eat at a restaurant owned by a friend or family member, 11 per cent said they just wanted to be able to go out for breakfast, 11 per cent said they were looking forward to the return of all-you-can-eat buffets, 17 per cent said they wanted to dine at a family-style restaurant or pub, 20 per cent said they were excited to watch the game at a sports bar, and 27 per cent said they were looking forward to date night with their significant other.
When the Province first announced the latest reopening plan, patios were not included until Step 1. We asked if that was too late, or if it was better to be cautious. According to the results, the majority, 85 per cent of respondents, felt patios should have been allowed to open, while just 15 per cent felt it was the right decision not to open them.
When the Province was deliberating on whether or not to send students back to school for in-person learning for the final month of the year, we asked what readers thought. According to the results, 65 per cent of you agreed with the Province that it was too risky for shut a short length of time, while 35 per cent felt the benefit to students was worth the potential risk.

With vaccination rates continuing to climb, and Ontario having already met the threshold for entering Step 3, we still have another week remaining in Step 1. We asked if the reopening plan was moving too slowly, or if it was better to be cautious and avoid a fourth wave. According to the results, 77 per cent of you felt it was too slow and things should have already started to reopen, while just 23 per cent felt the cautious approach was the right one.
Finally, with new rules being implemented for those who have been fully immunized, we asked whether vaccine passports should be implemented domestically. According to the results, 56 per cent of you felt they were necessary and should be implemented, while 44 per cent believe they should not be implemented.
