While many people around the world celebrated the end of the disaster that was 2020, some are probably realizing 2021 is likely going to inherit many of the issues associated with the previous year.

The pandemic is still going strong, and Ontario is well into its second lockdown, which is likely to be extended if the number of new cases continues to climb at the current rate.

As a result, many holiday celebrations had to be adjusted this year—many people were forced to celebrate with loved ones from afar and through a screen.

Additionally, with normal feeling so far away, many Canadians have yet to set goals for the new year.

With the number of Canadians struggling with feelings of depression and isolation due to the pandemic, many have eschewed the tradition of coming up with a New Year’s resolution this year—they would rather just get through it.

However, others are attempting to see the silver lining (they have to squint really, really hard), and attempting to make the most of this year.

For some, 2021 will be a write-off—many just want to grit their teeth and get through it.

Others are still aiming to use this new year to better themselves in some way, even if it’s just coping with the pandemic better than they did in 2020.

So, readers, where do you stand?

Did you create a resolution for this year, or are you just looking forward to the next?
