Despite the fact that one vaccine has already arrived in Canada, and another has been approved for use, many regions face restrictions and will for the foreseeable future.

As a result, many businesses are suffering, and many residents are out of work.

According to a recent survey from Indeed, the unemployment rate for Canada is nearly one in ten people—8.5 per cent.

Additionally, according to the results, the economic fallout caused by the pandemic has resulted in many Canadians finding a new appreciation for their job—57 per cent said the pandemic helped them realize how important their job was to them.

Further, 72 per cent said the pandemic has provided extra motivation for them to perform to the best of their ability at their job.

Moreover, many have found a silver lining amid the pandemic, while 32 per cent of respondents said their personal lives have worsened due to the pandemic, 35 per cent said it has afforded them more time to spend with family, and 23 per cent attributed it to providing them with a better work/life balance.

As well, 60 per cent said the pandemic has given them a valuable learning experience for their career.

However, the majority of respondents—56 per cent—are not optimistic about receiving a raise in the new year, while 23 per cent expressed pessimistic expectations for the 2021 job market.
