Niagara Police seek campground stabbing suspect last seen in Hamilton

Niagara Regional Police investigating a stabbing incident in Jordan over the weekend, are seeking a suspect whose last known whereabouts was in Hamilton.

According to a press release, officers from 8 District (Grimsby) were called shortly after 5 a.m. on Sunday (June 27) to Big Valley Campground, located at 2211 King St. in the Town of Jordan.

Upon arriving on the scene, officers were informed that an altercation between two people led to an assault and stabbing.

The victim was located and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, who police have identified as 41-year-old Omar Baxter of St. Catharines, fled the scene before police arrived.

Police believe the incident to have been targeted.

The investigation into the incident continues and police are on the lookout for Baxter, who is wanted for the following charges:

  • Assault by Choking
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Uttering Threats (2 Counts)
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Assault
  • Attempt Murder
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Fail To Comply with Probation

Baxter is described as being:

  • 5’7
  • 119lbs
  • Dark hair

Police said Baxter’s last known whereabouts were in the Hamilton area. He is considered armed and dangerous and if seen, police urge witnesses to not approach him but to call 911.
