Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and Halton in Ontario’s top 5 for highest COVID-19 positivity

Peel Region (Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon), Hamilton, and Halton are all listed in the top five Ontario public health units ranked by highest COVID-19 positivity.

Toronto-based research group ICES ranked all 34 public health units in Ontario for the week of June 6 to 12 based on their percent positivity (percentage of positive tests in the area).

Peel is listed 3rd at 4.04%, Hamilton 4th at 3.57%, and Halton 5th at 2.76%.

Ontario overall is listed 9th at 2.39%.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of June 6 was 2.4%, a drop from 3.1% the previous week.

Ontario has reached 71% overall vaccine coverage among those aged 12 and up, a 3% increase from the previous week.
