For those who may have thought the pandemic would ruin their annual bonus, there might be good news.
According to recent research from Robert Half, nearly half of senior managers surveyed said their company still intends to provide employees with year-end bonuses this year.
Additionally, of those who said they would be providing bonuses, 27 per cent said they would be bigger than last year, while 59 per cent said they would be about the same.
This news may come as a surprise to many employees, as 73 per cent said they didn’t anticipate an annual bonus this year, due to economic hardship brought about by the pandemic.
“This has been a difficult year for Canadian businesses and many attribute their survival to the hard work and dedication of their employees,” David King, Canadian senior district president of Robert Half, said in a news release.

“Along with offering managers an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of their staff members, year-end bonuses can also help organizations engage and retain their top talent,” he continued.
