Police are appealing to the public for help in locating a suspect involved in an armed robbery in Hamilton.

Hamilton police say that officers are searching for 28-year-old Hamilton man Daniel Gagnon following an alleged robbery that took place last month.

The suspect is facing robbery and probation violation-related charges.

According to police, a man in his early 50s was leaving a residence in the Main St. E. and Myrtle Ave. area around 5:30 pm on Oct. 22 when he was approached by a male with a handgun. Police allege the man demanded the victim turn over his possessions and left the scene with the victim’s bicycle and other items.

The victim was not injured.

Police say an arrest warrant has been issued and that the suspect is “actively evading police.”

According to police, the suspect should be considered armed. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.

“If you have any information that you believe could assist police with the investigation into this crime and the whereabouts of Daniel Gagnon, you are asked to contact Detective Constable Alexis Petrovic by calling 905-546-3816,” police say.
