Hamilton’s Barton Street is getting a lot of love from a popular local food blogger in a new video that explores the question: Is Barton Safe?

Joyce Leung, who is better known as the blogger behind Joyce of Cooking, took to the street to offer an inside look at some of the eateries changing the face of a Hamilton street with a sometimes bad reputation.

In the video, Joyce chats with the owners of Crumbled, MaiPai Tiki and residents of the neighbourhood to get their take on the transformation taking place there.

In her introduction, Joyce refers to Barton as “untouched by hipsters,” and a place where “ambitious, risk-taking food entrepreneurs are still setting up shop and creating something new for themselves and their hometown.”

Ultimately, Joyce comes to the conclusion that Barton is the place to see and be seen in Hamilton, particularly when it comes to its food many options for food and drink.

So, is it safe?

“If safe includes a vibrant, welcoming and authentic neighbourhood experience, then the answer is yes,” she concludes.
