Hamilton’s Winterfest pivots and moves programming entirely online for 2021

Hamilton’s Winterfest is making the transition to digital this year in response to the province’s stay-at-home order.
For the 2021 edition of the popular wintertime festival, organizers originally planned to move the festival’s hub to various parks throughout the city over the course of several weeks, as well as host a number of online events to engage the community.
The stay-at-home order announced by Ontario premier Doug Ford earlier this month put a halt to those plans.
So, in response, organizers last week announced that the event will go virtual and will feature a 360-degree Virtual Hub Tour that will highlight work by local artists, as well as online concerts and performances.
There will be art classes, a colouring contest for kids and plenty of other interactive programs.
The celebration of all things winter will see more than 50 events that people can indulge in from the comfort (and warmth) of home from January 29 to February 15.

Winterfest is a co-production put on by The City of Hamilton, in partnership with local arts non-profit Cobalt Connects and many other community partners.
Winterfest has been warming up the community for more than 40 years and in recent years, it’s attracted tens of thousands of people to its many events.
