Forge FC Hamilton to open Concacaf League at Tim Hortons Field with fans allowed to attend

Forge FC Hamilton knows its opponent for the preliminary round of the 2021 Concacaf League.

It was announced Friday (June 25) by Concacaf that Forge will open with a two-leg matchup against Club Deportivo Futbolistas Asociados Santanecos (C.D. FAS).

The first leg will be played at Tim Hortons Field on Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. with the return leg being played in El Salvador on Aug. 17 at 10 p.m.

“It is an honour for Forge FC to represent Hamilton as the CPL Champions in Concacaf League for the third consecutive season,” said Forge FC Director of Football Costa Smyrniotis. “We’re very proud of our accomplishments in our first two appearances and look forward to competing against these quality clubs in Concacaf League again in 2021.”

Ontario will enter Step 2 of its re-opening framework on June 30 and allow 25 per cent capacity at all outdoor events.

The Canadian Premier League campaign begins Saturday (June 26) in Winnipeg, Manitoba with The Kickoff Presented by Volkswagen.

Back-to-back CPL champions, Forge FC Hamilton open their 2021 campaign this Sunday against Valour F, who will have home-field advantage.
