Coming soon: Popular Korean street food chain is opening in Hamilton

A popular Korean street food chain that specializes in rice dogs is setting up shop in Hamilton.
Chung Chun Rice Dog is slated to open a storefront in Westdale, in the space that once housed Buffed Nail Salon, at 1051 King St. W in the coming months.
This will be the fourth location for the chain in Ontario and the sixth in Canada but the South Korea-based chain has hundreds of shops throughout the world.
Their speciality, the Korean-style hotdog on a stick, features a spicy sausage coated in rice flour batter and panko and deep-fried on the spot.
The rice flour batter is ‘fermented for 120 minutes every morning’ and is very thick and gooey but when it’s fried, it becomes crispy on the outside and pillowy inside.

What takes this dog to even further heights is the option to coat the dog with various toppings like Ramen chips or diced potato bread crumbs.
One can also opt for an all-mozzarella dog or half and half. Throw in the abundant condiment combinations available at Chung Chun and, basically, the sky’s the limit here.
The buzz on social media on Chung Chun’s imminent arrival suggests that when the time comes for the doors to open to its Westdale location, there will be lineups around the block.
