The creative force behind one of Hamilton’s most popular bakeries, MysweeTooth, is branching out and bringing a new doughnut shop to the downtown area.

In a social media post shared Tuesday (April 13), MysweeTooth, which is helmed by Jia Tian, announced that plans are in the works to open a storefront that specializes in Asian fusion doughnuts.

“I’ve always wanted to open up an Asian fusion donut shop, because donut is associated with my happy childhood memory,” Tian wrote in the post.

“I’m excited to tell you that we were able to get a storefront to open up our Asian fusion donut shop.”

The new storefront, at 2 Catherine St. N, will soon become home to Momoco Donuts.

A timeline for the new shop’s opening remains uncertain but the anticipation is already mounting on social media, with hundreds of people offering their congratulations and expressing their excitement.

MysweeTooth, Hamilton’s 1st Asian fusion bakery, opened its doors in early 2020 and, despite a global pandemic, has managed to become one of the city’s most popular bakeries in that short time.

The eventual opening of Momoco Donuts will also be a first for Hamilton.
