90-year-old man succumbs to injuries sustained in December crash: Hamilton Police

A 90-year-old man who was involved in a car crash on the mountain in late December has died, Hamilton Police confirmed Monday morning (Jan. 25).
In a news release, police recalled that on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, shortly after 1:00 p.m., emergency crews responded to the intersection of Upper Wentworth Street and Mohawk Road East for a two-vehicle collision.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a 90-year-old man, was transported to the hospital with injuries which were at the time, believed to minor in nature.
“While receiving medical treatment at the hospital it was discovered the male was also suffering from internal injuries and was admitted,” the release said.
On Thursday, January 20, 2021, Hamilton Police received notice that the man had succumbed to his injuries.
Upon receiving the information about the driver’s death, the Collision Reconstruction Unit took over the investigation and determined criminal charges are not warranted.

According to police, this marks the 15th traffic fatality for 2020. The year included the following deaths:
