Ottawa set to build transit facility in Milton

The Federal government will spend $3.9 million to build a garage for transit vehicles in Milton with Queen’s Parking kicking in more than $3.2 million for the project.

Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities was in Milton today to make the announcement for the new “transit operations facility” that will be able to accommodate 36 buses and other public transit vehicles.

It wasn’t revealed where the facility will be built or when construction will begin.

McKenna said the facility is important for Milton commuters as it will be able to increase the ability for maintenance and therefore service reliability.

As well, McKenna said the work will create new jobs in the community.
