The province has given the Halton Catholic District School Board approval to proceed with plans for a brand new elementary school in Milton.

The currently unnamed school, referred to as Milton #10 Catholic Elementary School, will be located at 675 Kennedy Circle West — south of Louie St. Laurent Ave at Thompson Rd South.

“It is no secret that our community continues to grow and I am proud to be part of a government that invests in growing communities,” said Milton MPP Parm Gill.

“This new school will ensure our children have a safe and healthy environment to grow, and learn in.”

The $18.7 million investment will reportedly provide a new, quality learning environment for Milton students (as well as new childcare rooms) and is part of the province’s capital investment program to support students with modern learning spaces.

Highlights of the new school will include:

  • 671 elementary student spaces
  • 88 new licensed childcare spaces
  • 5 new childcare rooms

“Construction of the new Milton elementary school further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in Ontario’s schools and our overall commitment to supporting our students and families,” said Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce.

“We look forward to forging ahead with this project and building a brand new school that will address the dire needs in our growing community,” said Patrick Murphy, Milton Trustee & Chair of the Halton Catholic District School Board.

Marvin Duarte, HCDSB Milton Trustee and Vice Chair of the Trustees Halton Catholic District School Board, says “shovels will be in the ground shortly” as construction on the new school begins soon.

There’s currently no confirmed timeframe for when the new school is expected to be complete and ready for students.
