Youth sought in Gage Park robbery that sent Hamilton man to hospital

Hamilton Police are searching for a young man wanted in connection to a robbery that took place in Gage Park Thursday night.

Police say shortly before 7:00 p.m., a man was exercising in the northwest corner of Gage Park when an unknown man approached and initiated a conversation.

He requested the victim turn over property to him and when he did not get any, he assaulted the victim with an unknown weapon and fled the area.

Hamilton Police were contacted and immediately responded. The area was searched but didn’t turn up anything.

The victim was treated at the scene by Hamilton Paramedics for a non-life threatening injury to his upper body. He was later transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.

Detectives from the East End Station Criminal investigation Branch continue to investigate this incident and are asking anyone who was in the area at the time or has information about this incident to contact police.

Hamilton Police will be in the area Friday canvassing for potential witnesses.

The suspect is described as a youth between the age of 13 to 16 with a medium complexion.

He was wearing a black hoodie and black face mask at the time of the incident.
