Young Hamilton Man Caught Stunt Driving at Dangerous Speeds

On Sunday, September 29, shortly after 11:30 pm, police officers were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 near Concession 7, Flamborough.

On Sunday, September 29, shortly after 11:30 pm, police officers were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 6 near Concession 7, Flamborough.

At that time a Hyundai Sonata sedan was seen travelling at a speed faster than the posted speed limit. 

Through investigation, police learned the vehicle was travelling at 142 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.

A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 24-year-old Hamilton man with an A-class licence.

The driver is scheduled to appear in court in late October to answer to several charges.

The driver was charged with:

  • Stunt driving
  • Three additional traffic offences

Ontario Highway Traffic Act states that stunt driving violations result in an immediate seven-day driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment for the same period.

If found guilty in court, the penalties for stunt driving could include a fine between $2000 – $10,000, up to six months in jail and a two-year licence suspension.
