VIDEO: Police searching for suspect after woman assaulted in her home in Ancaster

Police are looking to identify a male suspect who allegedly assaulted a woman inside of her home in Ancaster. 

Police are looking to identify a male suspect who allegedly assaulted a woman inside of her home in Ancaster. 

Hamilton police say that on Friday, March 6, 2020, officers were called to the scene of an alleged assault that occurred at a residence in the Meadowlands area in Ancaster.

Police say officers found a 60-year-old woman suffering from injuries caused by an unknown edged weapon.

Police say the woman was alone in the home when a male knocked on the front door. According to police, an altercation between the two ensued after the man entered the home and the woman was injured. 

Police say the suspect was last seen fleeing the scene in a newer-model, grey, two-door Honda Civic. Police say the suspect is a male with black hair and a black beard. He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweater, grey pants and black shoes. 

A video of the suspect has been released by police. 

Police say the victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police do not think the attack was random and believe there could be people in the community who have information that could assist with the investigation.
