Two males accused of trafficking crack, fentanyl: Hamilton Police

Two males are facing drug trafficking-related charges after an overnight traffic stop Monday night (Oct. 5).

Hamilton Police say officers seized over $12,000 in illicit drugs.

Two males are facing drug trafficking-related charges after an overnight traffic stop Monday night (Oct. 5).

Shortly after 11 p.m., plain-clothed officers observed a black BMW sedan in the area of Grimsby Ave and Britannia Ave “operating in a suspicious manner”.

Police say they called for assistance and pulled the vehicle over near the intersection of Main St E and Fairfield Ave.

“While investigating the occupants of the vehicle, police noted evidence to support the existence of illicit drugs within the vehicle,” said Hamilton Police. “The occupants were both placed under arrest.”

Police say they located “a quantity” of crack cocaine and fentanyl, an undisclosed amount of cash, bear spray, and “other evidence to support the trafficking of illicit drugs.”

A 17-year-old and a 19-year-old were taken into custody.

Seized:

  • Crack cocaine, approximate value $11,500
  • Fentanyl, approximate value $1,056
  • Canadian currency in excess of $1200.00
  • Bear spray
  • Drug paraphernalia

Charges for 19-year-old:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Possession of weapons dangerous

Charges for 17-year-old

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Breach of probation X3
