It was a hard year to get out there and indulge in Hamilton’s world-class culinary scene but we made the most of it with contactless pick-ups, delivery and outdoor dining.
So here are some of the Top 5 food stories from In the Hammer in 2020.
Hamilton’s Portuguese cuisine scene is pretty legendary. It was incredibly hard to narrow it down to just five restos but we managed, and here it is.
With all the challenges our restaurants faced this past year, the province made it legal for them to sell alcohol for take-away and delivery. Thus began the rise of cocktail kits, a trend a lot of us could get on board with.

You’d be surprised at how many places there are in Hamilton to find unique, fresh baked and incredible butter tarts. This was a pretty sweet Top 5 to research and narrow down.

The ultimate comfort food! Which is why the response to this Top 5 was pretty strong from readers.
This was perhaps our most commented and debated upon Top 5 this year. One thing is for sure: Hamiltonians love their eggs Benny and they’re not afraid to share the love and their appreciation.
