Three teens are facing charges in relation to a street robbery in which a 53-year-old man was assaulted in Downton Hamilton earlier this week, police say.
Hamilton Police say that on Tuesday (March 24) shortly after 3:30 p.m., four young men approached a man who was alone on the sidewalk in the area of King Street West and Bay Street North.
The man was assaulted and his cellphone was taken. The victim received minor injuries.
The suspects fled on foot, as the victim and a witness briefly gave chase.
Police were contacted and several patrol units responded to the area and the suspects reportedly split up in an attempt to evade police.
Three of the four suspects were located after foot pursuits and were taken into custody.
Through continued investigation, police learned two of the males were bound by court orders and their arrest signified violations to those orders. They were advised of the additional charges.
The three suspects will appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse later Wednesday to answer to several criminal charges.
Hamilton police say one suspect remains outstanding and he is described as being in his late teens and was wearing a dark brown jacket with a hood at the time of the incident.
A 15-year-old boy from Hamilton is facing a charge of robbery. A 17-year-old Hamilton man is facing a robbery charge and failure to comply with a release order. Another 16-year-old from Hamilton faces a robbery charge, obstructing a peace officer and failure to comply with a release order.
