Hamilton Police say they’ve concluded that speed, impairment and distracted driving led to a fatal single-car collision a year ago that took the life of a 21-year-old Lynden man.
Hamilton Police say they’ve concluded that speed, impairment and distracted driving led to a fatal single-car collision a year ago that took the life of a 21-year-old Lynden man.
The collision took place in the early morning hours of June 9, 2019, in the area of Woodhill Road and Concession 4 West in Flamborough.
Police say that the initial stages of the investigation found the man did not sustain a physical injury from the collision but died by electrocution after exiting his vehicle from down power hydro lines caused by the crash.
Reports recently received concluded speed, impairment as well as distracted driving were all contributing factors in this collision.

Hamilton Police are taking the opportunity to remind everyone to be extremely cautious near unknown downed wires.
If you see damaged or hanging power lines, maintain a minimum distance of 10 metres, police say, and report it to the local utility services. If in a vehicle and an overhead power line drops on top of the vehicle, stay inside and call 911.
