A limited number of Humber College apprentices and students will be permitted to return to campus to complete in-person requirements from the winter and summer terms.

A limited number of Humber College apprentices and students will be permitted to return to campus to complete in-person requirements from the winter and summer terms.

Some sections of the North campus, as well as the Humber Centre for Trades and Technology and the Education and Training Solutions facility, will reopen July 6.

“We are pleased to be able to bring some students and apprentices back to receive the hands-on education that was put on hold when Humber’s campuses closed due to COVID-19,” Chris Whitaker, president and CEO of Humber College, said in a news release.

“Following the guidance of the Ontario government and health officials, we will take this opportunity to gradually resume on-campus activity in a way that ensures the health and safety of our community. This will also help continue the pipeline for critical trades and frontline work in Ontario,” he continued.

Humber will be implementing additional safety measures and 350 apprentices and students from several programs be allowed to return to campus including:

  • Commercial Driver Training (Tractor Trailer)
  • Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
  • Electrical Apprenticeship – Construction and Maintenance
  • Industrial Woodworking
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Paramedic

However, not all students from the aforementioned programs will be allowed to return to campus—only students who have already been notified.
