Shooting on Hamilton mountain results in head-on collision

Hamilton Police are investigating after a shooting resulted in a collision in the area of Mohawk Rd. and Upper James St.

Hamilton Police are investigating after a shooting resulted in a collision in the area of Mohawk Rd. and Upper James St.

Shortly before 1 p.m. Friday (Oct. 2), police received reports of a motor vehicle collision.

“It was quickly determined that it was as a result of a shooting,” according to the Hamilton Police Service. 

The victim was reportedly driving westbound down Mohawk Rd. when a car pulled up beside him and opened fire.

Police say the victim’s vehicle subsequently collided head-on with another vehicle that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The suspect then fled the scene in their vehicle, according to police.

The victim sustained serious injuries but is expected to recover. Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages, however, they are currently looking for a white, 4-door Volkswagen.
