Series of raids result in weapons, drugs seizures: Hamilton Police

Over the past two days, Hamilton Police say they have seized five firearms, more than $250,000 in drugs, executed five drug warrants and made four arrests.

In June 2019, Hamilton Police began an investigation into suspected Fentanyl Trafficking.

On Wednesday (Jan. 22), the Vice and Drug Unit was granted a search warrant to enter a residence on Bethune Avenue.

When police searched the residence, three men were found inside along with drugs, money and firearms.

The men were arrested, transported to custody and held for a bail hearing.

Total Property Seized:

  • Three loaded handguns
  • Rifle
  • Fentanyl 19oz
  • Cocaine 25oz
  • Methamphetamine 9oz
  • Xanax Tabs 100 +
  • Paraphernalia for trafficking
  • Money counter
  • Canadian Currency

The total street value of drugs seized was in excess of $250,000.

Two Hamilton residents Easton Daryl Aiton-Poore, 22, and Jacob Lawrence Marquette, 23, have been arrested and jointly charged with the following:

  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Fentanyl
  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Xanax
  • Proceeds over $5000
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm x 3
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 3
  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm x 2
  • Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number

Aiton-Poore is facing additional charges:

  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Cocaine
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited Firearm
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a Firearm
  • Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number

Another 17-year-old Hamilton resident who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act is charged with:

  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Fentanyl
  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Cocaine
  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • CDSA 5(2) Trafficking Xanax
  • Proceeds over $5000
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm x 3
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x 3
  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm x 2
  • Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number

On Thursday (Jan. 23) the Vice & Drug Unit executed another warrant on a residence and vehicle in the area of Bradbury Road in Stoney Creek.

A 23-year-old man was located inside and found in possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking. In addition, a handgun was located in a concealed area of the house.

Nalwar Halifa, 23, of Stoney Creek, is charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs x 2
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine x 2
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Proceeds of Crime Under $5000
