Residents caught cooking drugs in Hamilton apartment kitchen: Police

Police say they seized over $7600 worth of street drugs and $10,000 in cash in a recent drug-related investigation in Hamilton.

Police say they seized over $7600 worth of street drugs and $10,000 in cash in a recent drug-related investigation in Hamilton.

In March 2020, officers began investigating concerns of drug activity in the area of a Barton Street East apartment.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, a search warrant assisted in finding drugs and cash inside, according to police.

“A quantity of powdered cocaine was located in measuring cups waiting to be ‘cooked’ and processed into crack cocaine,” police said.

“Digital scales and other drug paraphernalia along with a large sum of money were also found.”

Four people, including two Hamilton residents, were arrested and are facing charges.

36 year old Margaret Turnbull of Oshawa is charged with:

  • Fail to comply with release order (two counts)

29 year old Joseph Thompson of Hamilton and 27 year old David Tyler Moore of no fixed address are charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Other drugs (two counts)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin
  • Proceeds of crime over $5000

40 year old Jennifer Halyk of Hamilton is charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Other drugs (two counts)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Heroin
  • Proceeds of crime over $5000
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Fail to comply with probation
