Reports of machete-wielding man on East Mountain leads to two arrests, drugs seizure

Hamilton Police say that reports of a man wielding a machete outside an East Mountain business on Monday (July 13) lead to two arrests and a significant drugs seizure.

Hamilton Police say that reports of a man wielding a machete outside an East Mountain business on Monday (July 13) lead to two arrests and a significant drugs seizure.

On Monday, shortly before 8:30 p.m., Hamilton Police say they responded to a weapons call outside a commercial business located in the area of Fennell Avenue East and E26th Street.

Upon arrival, officers say they were told of a man spotted sitting in a red sedan holding a machete out of the window.

The car was located parked on the property and at the time, two men were inside.

Police say they observed that the man in the driver’s seat was in possession of drug paraphernalia and they say an unsheathed machete was in plain view on the passenger side floor.

Through continued investigation, police determined the men were in possession of illicit drugs and cash.

The two men, both 28 years old, were arrested without incident and taken into police custody. Their matter is scheduled to be brought before the courts later Tuesday.

From the scene, police seized:

  • Z Hunter Machete
  • Methamphetamine – Undisclosed amount
  • Hydromorphone – Undisclosed amount
  • Oxycodone – Undisclosed amount
  • Cocaine – Undisclosed amount
  • Gamma-hydroxybutanoic acid – Undisclosed amount
  • Canadian currency – Undisclosed amount

The first unidentified suspect faces the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Gamma-hydroxybutanoic acid
  • Possession proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Fail to comply probation X2
  • Possession of weapons dangerous

The second suspect, whose identity has not been revealed, facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Hydromorphone
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Oxycodone
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a controlled substance – Gamma-hydroxybutanoic acid
  • Possession proceeds of crime under $5000
