Families in the Hamilton area are going to get a chance to travel back to prehistoric times later this year as FirstOntario Centre is set to host the Jurassic World Live Tour.

The public sale for tickets starts Tuesday (Feb. 4) for the seven shows that will run from September 17 to 20.

The massive stadium experience features huge animatronic dinosaurs made popular in the movie Jurassic world.

Among the prehistoric stars is the always captivating and equally terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex, which measures more than 40 feet long. Also among the stars of the show is Velociraptor Blue.

“The production features more than 20 film-accurate, life-sized dinosaurs, each custom built with the latest technology, scientific precision and Hollywood studio quality,” a recent press release announcing the Hamilton shows says.

The show is scored by the franchise’s iconic music and features elaborate sets, projections, dangerous stunts and unique storylines.

“Working with a world-class production team and Universal filmmakers, we have extended the Jurassic World canon with a new story that can only be told through this live, arena spectacular as we bring full-scale dinosaurs to generations of fans around the globe,” said Juliette Feld Grossman, CEO of Feld Entertainment, the company producing the show.

The show premiered in the fall of 2019 and has been touring since. This is the first stop in Hamilton and is among the six Canadian stops.
