Hamilton emergency crews were on the scene of a serious collision on Highway 6 in Waterdown Wednesday morning (June 23).

According to Tweets posted by Hamilton Police and the Hamilton Fire Department (HFD), all lanes of Highway 6 between Maddaugh Road and Leslie Road in Flamborough, south of Puslinch, are closed and one person is reported to be without vital signs.

Early reports suggest the collision involved a transport truck that left the road and struck a home in the area.

HFD, Hamilton Police, OPP, Ornge and Hamilton Paramedics are on scene.

There is no word yet on when the road will reopen to traffic.

UPDATE: OPP has confirmed that a 55-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man, the driver of a transport truck that was travelling southbound on Highway 6 in Flamborough, is believed to have suffered a medical episode when his vehicle left the road, shortly before 9 Wednesday morning.

A northbound vehicle was sideswiped by the truck before it left the road and struck a house, but the driver of that vehicle did not sustain any injury, according to OPP.

Traffic continues to be detoured in the area as collision reconstruction units remain on the scene.

OPP said efforts are still being made to contact the owner of the home that was struck.

UPDATE 2: OPP has confirmed that the 55-year-old driver of the transport truck has been pronounced dead at the hospital.

UPDATE 2: The road was reopened at 6:52 p.m.
