Police seek witnesses after cyclist struck by pick-up truck driver in Hamilton

Hamilton Police are investigating after a cyclist was struck by a pick-up truck.

Witnesses to the collision who have yet to speak with police are being asked to contact detectives.

On Tuesday, shortly after 10 a.m., a cyclist was riding northbound on Centennial Prkwy. As he was attempting to make a left turn onto Barton St. a black Dodge Ram pick-up truck was travelling south on Centennial through the intersection, according to police.

The two collided and the cyclist was reportedly “dislodged from his bicycle.”

The police say the pick-up driver immediately pulled over and has been cooperating with police.

The cyclist, a 45-year-old Hamilton man was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment. His injuries are considered serious but he is in stable condition, according to officials.

“As a result of the level of injuries incurred by the cyclist, the Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation,” said police. “Detectives are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the collision or anyone who has dash-cam footage and has yet to speak with police, to come forward.”

“Detectives have not ruled out any contributing factors to the collision.”
