Police say the incident was reported shortly after 11:00 a.m. at Stelco Hamilton Works, located on Wilcox St in the city’s waterfront industrial zone.
Crews responded to the scene, which has since been cleared.
Police say the explosion happened in an unstaffed area of the facility, and as a result there were no injuries.
