Home sales across the Hamilton-Burlington area experienced an impressive 13 per cent increase from last year, according to the latest report from the Realtors Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB).

The average price in the RAHB area — which includes Hamilton, Burlington, Haldimand, and Nigagra North — was up 16 per cent, reaching $694,690.

With COVID-19 measures easing over the recent months, buyers and sellers are beginning to jump back into the real estate market.

“Due to COVID-19 the trends for the year are not what we would normally experience, said RAHB President Kathy Della-Nebbia.

“Over the spring, we saw lower than normal activity, but a balance between supply and demand. Into the summer months, we saw an increase in activity where we would normally see a decrease.”

The pent-up demand from the spring months was reflected in both the number of sales and the increase in the average sold price.

Within Hamilton, the total number of homes sold was 865, up 20 per cent from last August.
