Outstanding suspect in violent variety store robbery in Hamilton arrested

Hamilton Police say they have arrested a third suspect in connection to a violent convenience store robbery late last month.

Hamilton Police say they have arrested a third suspect in connection to a violent convenience store robbery late last month.

On Dec. 31, police were called to the Extra Variety Store located at 1110 Cannon St. E to reports of a robbery.

Police say three suspects entered the store and the employee was immediately stabbed multiple times and then store merchandise was stolen.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On January 15, 2020, police executed a search warrant and located 19-year-old Alton Stenhouse-Smith inside his residence. Stenhouse-Smith was brought into custody with his bail opposed.

Stenhouse-Smith is facing the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Assault Cause Bodily Harm

Stenhouse-Smith was the outstanding suspect arrested in this case. The others were apprehended earlier this month.
