One man is dead, another in critical condition following fire on Hamilton mountain: Police

One man is dead and another remains in critical condition in hospital following a residential fire on Concession Street Tuesday night (Feb. 9).

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. the Hamilton Fire Department, police and emergency services were called to a residence located at 326 Concession Street to reports of a working fire.

Two men were located inside the residence and were transported to the hospital for further medical treatment.

One of the men, 55-years-of-age, has since succumbed to injuries incurred in the fire, police said in a press release Wednesday morning.

The second man, 58-years-of-age remains in hospital in critical but stable condition.

The Mountain Division Criminal Investigations Branch initially responded for the incident.

The office of the Ontario Fire Marshall was contacted and have taken over the investigation with the assistance of police.

A police presence is expected in area as the investigation remains ongoing.
