A long-awaited coffee shop has opened in Westdale and it’s generating quite a buzz.
On Monday (May 25) Mikel Coffee, located on King West between the theatre and Nannaa Eatery, was offering passersby a free coffee to celebrate their grand opening.
Mikel Coffee Company is a coffeehouse chain based out of Greece that has more than 200 locations across the world.

Their new Westdale location is their first storefront to open in Canada.
Touted as the ‘Greek answer to Starbucks,’ Mikel serves up your typical coffeehouse fare with a few little Greek innovations thrown in.

Baked goods, sandwiches and sweets are also featured prominently on the menu.
Judging from the social media response to a post announcing their opening, Mikel’s is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood.
