Massive power outage affecting over 3,600 homes and businesses in Hamilton

A widespread power outage is in effect in west Hamilton this afternoon.

Alectra reports that 3,633 homes and businesses are affected in the area from Cootes Dr to the Alexander Graham Bell Pkwy and from Main St W to Longwood Rd S.

The cause of the outage is being investigated.

“This outage was not due to the cut-over – the outage occurred even before we switched customers over,” said Alectra.

A crew has been dispatched and power is estimated to return at 10:00 p.m.
