Man wanted for armed robbery in Hamilton arrested in Calgary: Police

A man wanted in connection to an armed robbery that took place in East Hamilton in October has been apprehended in Calgary.

In a news release issued Thursday (Dec. 24), Hamilton Police said Jared MacLeod, a 33-year-old man pf no fixed address, was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant on December 18 with the assistance of Calgary Police.

Police recall that on Monday, October 19, 2020, shortly before 9:30 p.m., a robbery with a firearm occurred at the Hasty Market located at 387 Barton Street East.

The suspect reportedly brandished a handgun while demanding money from the clerk. The suspect fled the scene on foot eastbound with an undisclosed amount of money.

On Friday, October 23, 2020, the Hamilton Police disseminated a media release asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect and subsequently, he was.

A Canada Wide Arrest Warrant was issued for MacLeod on December 14th.

MacLeod was returned to Hamilton and was brought before the courts on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, to answer to the following charges:

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Disguise with Intent
