Police are continuing to investigate a recent shooting in Hamilton.

Around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, police were called for a shooting incident at a residence in the area of Cannon Street East and Wentworth Street North.

“On arrival, police located a 58-year-old male victim who had sustained non-life threatening injuries after he was shot in the face with a BB gun by a male suspect,” police say.

The shooting is believed to have happened following a verbal argument.

The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital. He has since been released.

Police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence with the assistance of the Emergency Response Unit.

“The identity of the male responsible for the shooting has been established, and as such, an arrest warrant will be applied for the arrest of a 22-year-old male. The identity of the male will be released once the information has been sworn to and brought properly before the Court,” police say.

Charges include Assault with a weapon, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Uttering threats, and Failing to comply with a Recognizance.
