Man arrested in connection with several robberies in Hamilton

Police have arrested a Hamilton man wanted in connection with three robberies that took place at local businesses.

Police have arrested a Hamilton man wanted in connection with three robberies that took place at local businesses.

Hamilton Police say officers were able to identify a suspect who allegedly robbed two convenience stores and one gas bar over a two-month period. 

Police say that on March 7, 2020, a disguised male entered a convenience store on Walnut Street and fought with the employee while trying to grab cash from the register.

The employee was not injured, but the suspect allegedly left the store with stolen money. 

Police allege that on April 8, two males entered a gas bar on King Street West and committed a robbery. Police allege a white male made a threat with a knife while a black male walked around the counter to grab money from the register before fleeing on foot.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. 

Police allege that on April 25, an unknown male entered a convenience store on Queen Street South in Hamilton. Police allege the male threatened the employee with a hammer before escaping on foot with the store’s money.

No injuries were reported. 

Police say 35-year-old Hamilton man Omar Thomas was arrested on April 29 in the King Street East area in Hamilton. He has been charged with robbery, wearing a disguise with intent, failing to comply with probation and cocaine possession. 

He was brought into central custody and charged with several robbery offences, police say.
