Man arrested following robbery and assault incident in Hamilton

Hamilton police say a 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged robbery that took place in the City of Hamilton.

Police say that on Dec. 31, 2019, officers responded to a robbery at the Extra Variety Store located at 1110 Cannon Street East.

Police allege three suspects entered the store and stabbed an employee multiple times before stealing store merchandise.

Police say the victim was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On Jan. 6, 2020, police located Grayson Aylesworth in the Wentworth Street North area in Hamilton. The accused was arrested and brought into custody with his bail opposed. He now faces robbery and assault charges.

Early in the investigation, a second suspect was identified. On Jan. 3, 2020, 22-year-old Sheldon Burkholder was arrested while entering a vehicle on St. Andrew’s Drive in Hamilton. He was brought into custody with his bail opposed.

Both men are facing robbery and assault charges. 

Police continue to investigate as they gather information about the outstanding third suspect.
